Sultaniye - description and properties of the Sultaniye vine
The Sultaniye grape comes from the Aegean region around Denizli and Manisa and is mainly grown there. It is mostly used as a table grape and processed into raisins, but it is also used to make wine.
The Sultaniye grape produces light, easy-to-drink and fresh wines with a fruit flavor. This grape variety is used to produce dry and semi-dry wines.
The vines generally feel at home in the Aegean Sea with its mild climate. However, it gets harder at altitude. Temperatures can rise to 40 ° C in summer and drop to -10 ° C in winter. There are approximately 80 days of rainfall, mostly in winter.
The Sultaniye vine prefers soil from loam in the lower layers to calcareous chalk at 1100 m.
The berries are medium in size. Notes of asparagus, pear, pineapple, flowers, mango, lemon, golden and green apples and hay emerge in the aroma.
The wines go well with grilled or steamed fish, shellfish, chicken, pasta with white creamy sauces.
